How to edit text in a PDF

  1. Open your PDF

    Open the editor and choose a PDF, or drop it on the page. It opens in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

  2. Click the text you want to change

    Choose the Text tool and click a line. A caret appears, and you can select, delete and type as in any text box.

  3. Type your changes

    Your new words are set in the document's own font, at the same size and colour, so they match the rest of the line.

  4. Save and download

    Press Return to apply the change, then download the edited PDF. Every change can be undone until then.

  • Bold and italic

    Make a word or a whole line bold or italic.

  • Underline and strikeout

    Underline words, or strike them out to show what changed.

    Put a highlight colour behind the words that matter.

  • Font, size and colour

    Pick another font, a new size or a new colour for the selected text.

  • Letter spacing

    Tighten or loosen the space between letters.

  • Copy text

    Select text on any page and copy it to use somewhere else.

What to expect from your PDF

  • Scanned PDFs are pictures of text. A scan has no text to edit, so Pandaedits tells you when a page has none.
  • Missing letters are handled for you. If the document's font lacks a letter you type, Pandaedits says so and offers a matching standard font for that text.
  • Protected and signed PDFs are respected. A PDF that restricts editing asks for its permissions password first. A digitally signed one warns you that editing it will invalidate the signature.
  • Some text cannot be edited. Text stored inside a graphic, or kept invisible behind a scan, is not editable. Pandaedits tells you so and lets you copy it instead.
