How to add an image to a PDF

  1. Open your PDF

    Open the editor and choose a PDF, or drop it on the page. It opens in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

  2. Choose Add Image

    Choose the Image tool, then Add Image and pick a PNG or JPEG. You can also drop an image on the page, or paste one you have copied.

  3. Place it on the page

    Click where the image should go to place it at its natural size, or drag to draw the size you want.

  4. Adjust it and download

    Drag the image to move it, pull its corner handles to resize it, or turn it with the rotation handle. Then download the PDF.

What to expect

  • PNG and JPEG images. Transparent PNGs keep their transparency. A few kinds of file, such as CMYK JPEGs and 16-bit or interlaced PNGs, are refused with a message saying why.
  • Proportions stay locked. Resizing from a corner keeps the image in proportion. Hold Shift, or open the padlock, to stretch it.
  • Only the image you chose changes. If the same image appears in several places, replacing or deleting it changes only the one you selected.
  • Protected and signed PDFs are respected. A PDF that restricts editing asks for its permissions password first. A digitally signed one warns you that editing it will invalidate the signature.
